I hope you all had as much fun as I did last night discussing the brand-new novel “The Other’s Gold” with the author herself! I feel like any woman can relate to a story about female friendships and how much they can morph and be redefined over time. It was particularly interesting for me to relive my own college days since so much of the story took place while the protagonists were in college. I almost can’t believe how much time has passed since I was there myself… LOL.
For this next book, I wanted to pick something to switch gears a bit, and to explore some themes closer to the ones that affect my own life: the ups and downs of marriage! Ha! Married people obviously have such a limited experience, as we all cultivate our own relationships within the four walls of our own spaces with a partner. It’s rare that you get any real insight into how other people’s marriages work, change, live, or die. And I’m fascinated by it! This month, we will be reading “Fates and Furies” by Lauren Groff. One review of this novel stated that this novel “tells the story of an apparently successful marriage from two different perspectives, the husband’s and then the wife’s, and it explores the fierce asymmetry of the two tellings.” I was sold. I’m SO excited to read this book, and then to discuss it with the HEA Book Club!
We will be meeting on Monday, November 4th to discuss the book on Instagram Live! Please read with us, and come prepared to discuss with me via screen share! Also don’t forget to look out for your monthly HEA Book Club bookmark in this Friday’s Newsletter!
