Let’s give it up for the Teachers!!! If the COVID-19 era taught me one thing, it’s that we should all appreciate our educators more because their job is basically impossible. We are big Teacher-Lovers in our household, and when Teacher Appreciation Week rolls around, I like to create something extra special for them! This school year was really seminal for us because it marked the kids’ first year at their new school. I was so blown away by how they were welcomed with open arms, not only by the kids but also by the administrators and teachers. It has been so great for both my Bigs to feel like an instant part of a community again, and I’ve been doing my best to do my own part in the community by volunteering at the school weekly. When Teacher Appreciation Week rolls around, there are other ways to put my money where my mouth is!

Speak to any teacher ever, and one thing they’ll tell you is that the gift they want is a gift card. Full stop. No more mugs, please! Since a gift card can feel a little impersonal, I like to make something at home that can showcase the card. This year, I came up with these DIY Succulent Gift Card Holders! They play off of the theme of “growing” with the school year and are super easy to make with kiddos. I love how these turned out! They look like cute little flowering cacti up top, but pull them out of the pot and the gift card is revealed. The kids wrote a special message to each of their teachers on the banner on the front. Check out the video for a step-by-step, and the list of materials is below! Please let me know if you end up making these!
