Eva Amurri shares her Christmas Break Plans

I feel like I said the same thing last year, but how did I blink on Thanksgiving, and it’s suddenly almost Christmas?! I’m just so thankful I started all my holiday prep extra early this year. It felt like overkill at the time, but now it doesn’t seem so crazy! I got so much of my Holiday shopping done during Cyber Week, and it gave me lots of extra time to plan out our season a bit. This year, the kids have an extra long Christmas break because of where the holidays land during the week, and it’s been a fun opportunity to plan some activities. Whenever the kids’ holiday vacation starts, I’m always so grateful to have the extra downtime where I can really spend the time with them when I have time off, too! During their other breaks during the year, I’m normally trying to balance them being home all day with my regular work schedule…and it doesn’t end very well. But at Christmas, I feel like we can all just really enjoy each other. Then there’s that No Man’s Land between Christmas and NYE when I feel like I’m losing my mind slightly and can’t remember what day of the week it is….that’s always a treat. LOL. Today I thought I’d share the details about our Christmas Break Plans! If you’re local-ish let me know if there is anything happening that is not to be missed!

The Westport Nutcracker

Major dances as a Blue Soldier and Coffee Attendant in The Westport Academy Of Dance’s production of The Nutcracker the weekend before Christmas! He has been rehearsing since September, and this is his third year dancing in it. The show is one of my highlights of the season every year! The weekend itself is very exhausting for the dancers since they perform in 3 total shows, but it is so rewarding! I am so looking forward to it this year.

Christmas Eve Lunch

Kyle has the kids during the day on Christmas Eve this year, and Ian and I are going to treat ourselves to a fancy lunch in town. We are normally hosting a big Christmas party on Christmas Eve, but so many of our family members are out of town this year that we decided to keep it chill. I can’t wait to have a glass of bubbly and toast to the holiday!

Christmas Day Lunch

We’ll be cooking a big meal on Christmas day this year. We’ll be keeping up with our tradition of having a Honeybaked ham, with fresh biscuits, green bean casserole, salad, and lots of desserts.

Annie at MSG Theater

The kids’ big Christmas gift from us this year is tickets to see Annie at MSG Theater! They are going to be SO excited since it’s a musical we all love, and that they know every word to! Ian and I plan to eat lunch in the city before enjoying the show.

The Kids Go Down South

The kids are visiting with Kyle and his family after Christmas for a few days, and Ian and I will be cleaning up the wreckage of Christmas and enjoying a few quiet days to ourselves.

Closet Makeover

I’m finally fully finishing my walk-in closet over the holiday break! It’s getting paint, a new light fixture, a new rug, proper organization, and a bench from my HEA x BenchMade line! I can’t wait to see it all come together!

Gladiator II

I’m dyingggggg to see my boyfriends, Pedro Pascal and Paul Mescal, in Gladiator II. I will definitely be seeing it over the Christmas holiday. No spoilers!

A Tuxedo NYE House Party

Yes, that is what it sounds like! Ian and the kids and I have been invited to a festive and fun NYE celebration at our friend’s home. The dress code is TUXEDOS. Stay tuned for some fabulous photos!

New Year’s Day Family Hang

We’ve invited friends over to hang in sweats on New Year’s Day to just chill with takeout and watch movies all day. The kids go back to school on January 2nd, so it’s our last day to recharge before business as usual!

Dry January

I’ve decided to participate in Dry January this year! Ian has been alcohol-free for over 3 years, and he has felt fantastic so I figured I would do a month with him. I’ve written about my experiments with less alcohol in the past and ways it has changed my habits. I think it will be a nice reset! Some of my favorite mocktails are linked HERE!
