Eva Amurri shares a recipe for Crispy Baked Chicken Wings for the Super Bowl

Admittedly, I don’t follow football. But I AM HERE FOR A SUPER BOWL FOOD GROUP! I’m the person at any sports gathering with my hip glued to the snack table. Why are sports snacks just so much better than any other party snacks?!

Chicken wings are one of my favorite Sporty snacks. I just LOVE crispy chicken wings with spicy buffalo sauce, some ranch to dip, and those crunchy veggies on the side. I would watch any sports game if I can snack on those. LOL. Today I wanted to share a recipe for the MOST delicious baked chicken wings recipe to enjoy while you watch Super Bowl LV!

I got this recipe from Eden, and they do not disappoint. I love how much healthier it is to bake the chicken wings…and they’re still just as delicious! I sub out goat butter and a vegan ranch dressing to dip. Linking that and the buffalo sauce in the post below. You could also really easily swap out the buffalo sauce for teriyaki sauce in this recipe to make yummy teriyaki wings!

As an aside, this baked chicken wings recipes is an awesome dish to cook in an air fryer if you have one. I got an air fryer for Christmas (Thank you, Eden!) and I’ve been trying out so many of my recipes in it! It works so well and is so much healthier and easier than a traditional frying method. If you have an air fryer, try my Arancini Recipe and my Zucchini Fries Recipe in there. You won’t be disappointed!

Instructions…

(for oven-baked chicken wings…)

Step by step...

Step 1

Prep

Preheat the oven to 450º F and line a baking sheet with foil. Place a cooling rack on top and spray the rack with Extra Virgin Olive Oil Cooking Spray.

Step 2

Dry

Dry off all the wings using paper towels and squeezing out the moisture. You want them to be as dry as possible! Once dry, set aside.

Step 3

Season

Add the baking powder, garlic powder, seasoned salt, and cayenne to a large bowl, and mix until well combined.

Step 4

Toss

Add the chicken wings to the bowl with the spices and toss to coat until all the wings are evenly covered.

Step 5

Bake

Using a pair of kitchen tongs, arrange the chicken wings on the cooling rack on the baking sheet, an inch or more apart from each other. Bake on the top rack of your oven for 30 minutes, then flip the wings, and bake for another 30-45 minutes.

Step 6

Ready

The wings will be done when they are crispy and a deep golden color.

Step 7

Melt

Melt the butter in a sauce pot on the stove for about 2 minutes.

Step 8

Add

Add the buffalo sauce to the butter, and stir until well combined.

Step 9

Coat

Add your chicken wings to the bowl, tossing until all the wings are evenly coated.

Step 10

Serve

Serve with some celery, carrots, and dipping sauce of your choice!

(For Air Fryer chicken wings…)

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400ºF for 5 minutes while you follow steps 2-4 (above).

  2. Once heated, place the wings in an even layer in your air fryer basket and cook for 10-15 minutes.

  3. After 10 minutes, flip your wings over with kitchen tongs, or by shaking the air fryer basket back and forth, and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes. (Times will vary depending on your air fryer wattage. Mine was 1700 watts, so if yours is lower, you may need to add more time).

  4. Once your wings are nice and crispy, follow steps 7-10 (above) and enjoy!
