I’m going to be really honest right now– and sorry if this seems a little dramatic– but the worst part of my day, every day, is figuring out what the heck I’m going to pack for Marlowe’s school lunch.  How come nobody warned me that this is a TOTAL nightmare! Add on top of that the trickiness that Marlowe will just pick and choose days at random where she will or won’t like something.  One day she loves quesadillas and gobbles it down when I put one in her lunch box.  The next week her teachers will tell me that she refused to eat even one bite of her quesadilla at lunch time and is now starving– resulting in a complete meltdown the entire car ride home.  It’s like riding on the edge of your seat, people! All of this, of course, is made even more complicated by the fact that I’m a busy working Mama of two– with a time crunch.  I need quick, easy options– that are healthy and fit in to our lifestyle.

Luckily, I’ve discovered Pure Growth Organic snacks– which have totally helped with the lunchbox drama!

Pure Growth Organic is an affordable and fun line of organic snacks that are sold at Walmart.  They are focused on providing tasty and nutritious snacks that are easy on your wallet AND good for you on the inside.  I just love this line because they also incorporate some of our kids’ favorite characters to help the more “reluctant” eaters.  The snacks really inspire me to create fun lunches for Marlowe that she will actually eat– every time, not just sometimes.  One of her faves right now is the Minion themed lunch that I pack her.  Everyone knows that a Minion’s favorite expression is “Banana!” This lunch is made up of banana chips with Sunbutter (nut free!) to dip, strawberry hearts, String cheese and raisin “Minion Eyeballs”, and of course the deeeeelish Pure Growth Organic Minion Animal Crackers.  The first time she saw these she squealed.  Her favorite little guys as crackers! Marlowe also loves the Pure Growth Organic cereal bars as a snack or as a little side-piece to her yogurt in the morning.

I will admit that I have even gotten on the train when it comes to these snacks. I really love the veggie chips (in my favorite flavor, BBQ!) and the snack mix and popcorn– which are the perfect accompaniment to an evening cocktail!  Sorry, Lowie, but Mama is stealing your snacks while you’re sleeping.  LOL. Knowing they’re all organic makes me feel great about what I’m putting in my body as well as hers.  Plus, if it’s organic it’s basically salad, right? Right? Ok maybe not, but just let me dream, ok? About salads that taste like cheddar popcorn…

Thanks for the post! Feeding a toddler is SO challenging. I would definitely enjoy another post on toddler meals and any tips/tricks on getting their veggies (a major struggle in our house these days. Last night, after a green-bean induced meltdown, I through together “pea-zza” aka crackers with melted cheese and mashed peas on top). Ideas, strategies, and even sommelier recommendations welcome!

    Have a great day!

I have to admit too I kind of love that they have characters my kids love on them. Usually those products aren’t the best and I’m left saying no at he store. Finally they can get the characters they want and I can feel good about what I’m giving them.

Chocolate breakfast biscuits for sure! I feel like they would do the least amount of damage in the car. I am constantly finding my daughter’s leftover “snacks” in the various crevices in the car seat. The biggest offender is usually those pesky goldfish, but teddy grahams are a close runner up. Anything big that doesn’t crumble is a winner in my book.

( yogurt, Cheerios or Breakfast Bar, fruit= breakfast; cheese stick/ cucumber+ ranch = snack 1; fruit + nuts= snack 2; tomato soup, sandwich or leftovers like pasta, fruit= lunch) My favorite activity this winter is popcorn and a movie after work 🙂

As a newly preggo mom-to-be, I am finding that the only food that looks at all appetizing is toddler food. My doctor refers to this as the BRAT diet. With that in mind, I will say that these toddler approved snacks look amazing! I love that they are organic and come in combinations of salty AND sweet. The BBQ chips are now in my cravings memory bank. I am always trying to find foods that will satisfy cravings, not offend my sensitive gag reflex AND are not terrible for you. Thank you for sharing these snacks that hit all three of those markers!

This week my 18month old son was pushing out his last two teeth, 102 fever, cough, snot and no appetite. He was even refusing bread and banana which are his absolute favorite. The only thing he would eat was his quinoa puffs and I felt like a terrible mom. Having an assortment of healthy snacks would have been helpful this week for sure that way I know he’s getting something in his little belly.

Being a full time working mom myself I know the struggle of meal prep ideas for him. Like Marlowe he will love chicken and veggies one week and hate it the next. I then have to get creative with purees just so I can make sure he’s getting his veggies. The struggle is real!!!

I mean all of these products look delicious but I think Axel would devour those snack bars for sure.

PS. He finally ate an actual meal last night so appetite is coming back FINALLY!

Get a Yumbox. I am obsessed. It has made lunch and snacks so much easier because the compartments are labeled (protein, vegatables, etc.), it doesn’t leak and keeps the food in the compartments so it isn’t all over the place when your child opens the box. And I’ve tried every bento box on the market (including a few from Bento & Co (which has the cutest bento accessories).

I also started putting Herban Essentials towelettes in his lunch bag and now he is an obsessed 4 year old.
