Eva Amurri shares Kyle's Family Room Reveal

Anybody who has been following along with me since my divorce knows that one of my dreams for my kids was that Kyle would move “back” to Westport in some capacity eventually. It just makes things so much easier for the kiddos and makes their life a lot more continuous in terms of activities, friends, playdates, birthday parties, etc. Plus, they like having their Dad as close as possible! This Spring, Kyle moved back to Westport part-time, and it’s been such an awesome transition. The kids are able to spend time with him here in town every other weekend. They love not having to go too far, and being closer to their sports games on the weekends and such. When Kyle moved in, he mentioned that he’d love any help or input with the design of the place.

Well, you know me: that’s all I needed to hear! LOL. With my new Benchmade Modern collection coming out, I thought it could be a really cute gift for him to get him a new sectional from my collection, and to design a really sweet Family Room for him and the kiddos. Kyle and I have very different interior styles, but he knows that I know the textures and color stories he likes. And my collection has so many different performance fabrics to choose from that hold up beautifully to normal family wear and tear. Basically, The Happily Eva After Collection for Benchmade Modern is now the official seating collection for Blended Families!

I’m kidding (kind of) but there is something to how perfect this seating collection is for families of all sizes. First, there’s the sizing and shape: you can choose a one-piece sofa of various lengths, or you can put together the sectional that is perfect for YOU. That’s the beauty of modular sofas! If he ever moves into a larger home that can handle an even BIGGER sectional, he can just add pieces to this one! No need to get a whole new sectional.

Next, there’s the fabric selection. He had a velvet sofa in his house before…but honey, his old velvet sofa COULD NEVAAAAAAH! This one is so durable, and stains come up so easily. Plus, it just stands up to kids all over it more than anything else I’ve ever had. I chose this beautiful caramel color for him because it really went beautifully with the midcentury modern, vintage furniture pieces he already owned.

Lastly, I tossed him a new ottoman from my collection to use as a coffee table. This is perfect for them because it can act as extra seating, or hold drinks on a tray easily. Plus no sharp corners for the lots and lots and lots of rough-housing and fun that takes place over there! The kids also love having a couch they know so well and already love in their new “other” home. It’s so comfortable and holds our entire modern, blended family so beautifully.

My last step was exploring decor to incorporate the midcentury modern vibes and bring in a few fun colors and bright textures. I love how this room turned out because it feels masculine but still warm, and Kyle loves it too! I’m really happy I could help to make this important room in their new house a little homier.

Let me know how you like this transformation!
