Happy November! It’s officially the month of gratitude, and of one of my most favorite Holidays– Thanksgiving! This time of year can get really hectic for everyone, especially people with kids.  Endless events, gifts to buy, meals to prepare, family visits, and the changing of the weather on top of it all.  This year I’m trying to make a conscious effort to slow down the chaos and find moments of breath and reflection in between the madness.  And today I wanted to share a really fun practice that my family has been employing to do just that– our gratitude pumpkins!

If you’re anything like us, your kids have been to the pumpkin patch about a hundred times the past few weeks– and after your front step is decorated, your Jack-O-Lanterns have been carved or painted, and your pumpkin spice lattes have been brewed (LOL), what do you do with all the pumpkins?! Make one of these Gratitude Pumpkins!

The kids and I sit down together once a day (we do it at dinner time), I take a sharpie, and we go around and decide what we’re grateful for that day.  It can be deep (family, my health, our safe home) or something really simple and funny– Major was thankful for Youtube the other day.  You can even do one giant pumpkin for the whole family, and use it as a kitchen table centerpiece! I love having an ongoing craft that helps center us as a family and communicate at the end of the day.  Plus, it’s just so nice to have all of your gratitude triggers where you can see them in one place– so uplifting for the season!

Comment below and what you’re thankful for today– even if it’s silly! I’ll go first…today I’m thankful for Spray Tans! I’m heading to Miami for a photoshoot and let’s just say Mama didn’t want to scare the other beachgoers with her pasty bod.  LOL.

Grateful for therapy and your recipe for mulled wine! (Which is another kind of therapy I’m thankful for)

Love this! Thinking a big white pumpkin and different color sharpie for each family member. This week I have been incredibly thankful for a little adult time and my best friend!

Thankful for Eva 🙂 We made this a family tradition the moment I saw it when you originally posted in 2018. We have taken photos of pumpkins past but this year we picked up a faux white pumpkin from Michael’s. We’ll finish it with gold “rub n buff” at the end of the month and it will become part of our Fall decor!

  4. Oh, the season of gratitude and pumpkins! 🍂🎃 Thanks, Eva, for reminding me to be thankful for more than just my daily dose of pumpkin spice lattes! 😂 Today, I’m grateful for coffee that magically appears every morning – because, let’s be real, I’m not the one making it. Cheers to grateful hearts and caffeinated mornings!
