I live for an easy holiday craft I can make with my kids. Not only is it fun to have a themed activity in the evenings or weekends, but I swear that crafting with your kids really does create core memories and makes you seem like a Mom Rockstar in their eyes even if it’s literally assembling four things and using a glue gun. Low lift, high impact! This Wine Cork Bat Craft has the added benefit of giving a second life to your discarded wine corks! My kids loved making these, and they make such cute and simple decorations for your planters or wreaths. Not to mention, you could also hang a ribbon with equally spaced knots on it, and hang these off of that to make a garland!

Step 1:
Preparation
Gather your supplies while the hot glue gun is heating up.
Step 2:
Attach Googly Eyes
Using the hot glue gun, attach a set of googly eyes to one side of the cork near the top or the bottom.
Step 3:
Draw, Cut and Glue Wings
On a black sheet of cardstock, draw a set of bat wings and cut them out. Squeeze a small amount of glue on each side of the cork and hold the wing on until secure and the glue has dried.
Step 4:
Attach ears
On a piece of black card stock make a set of bat ears and cut them out. Glue them on the flat end of the cork that is closest to the eyes.
Step 5:
Attach hook
In order for your bat to hang, you must secure an ornament hook to the bottom of the cork. Most corks have preexisting holes that you can poke the hook into but if yours doesn’t you can use the end of the scissors to make a hole. To ensure the hook stays in place, you can add a little hot glue to the base of the cork where it meets the hook.
Step 6:
Use for Decoration!
We hung ours on the branches in our planters on our porch – such a cute and simple addition!
