Fall is finally underway, and there is so much to look forward to! I was kind of holding on to the last dregs of Summer and pretty sad to see it end, but now that I’ve opened my heart to Fall I’m remembering that there is SO much to get excited about in the next few months.  It’s amazing how even the beginning of the school year has brought so much energy in to our home– no disrespect to Kyle and I but I’m pretty sure Marlowe is ecstatic to be out of the house all day. LOL. We have some fun family plans for Fall– and I’ve been keeping something hush hush that I am so excited to let you in on– so I thought I would share it all today! Let me know what you’re looking forward to this Fall in the comments below!

Apple Picking

Our family adores apple picking, and since moving to the suburbs, picking our own seasonal fruit has become a favorite activity.  I’m really excited to take the kids to the orchard in the next couple of weeks.  I have some great apple-based recipes up my sleeve to share with you on the blog once we get our apples!

Pumpkin Carving

We usually do some fun no-carve pumpkin activities with the kids– since handing a four year old and a two year old a mini saw doesn’t usually turn out too well. Ha! But I love carving pumpkins myself! Getting in a zone and working on a craft brings me to a happy place every time.  Kyle and I like bringing the kids to the pumpkin patch, letting them go crazy picking pumpkins to use as decor– and then we each pick our “hero pumpkin” to carve! Then we pour glasses of wine after the kids are asleep at go to town.  It may or may not get slightly competitive and I may or may not smoke him every single time.  Do not mess with a person who crafts for a living. LOL.

Farm Exploring

A girlfriend of mine recently moved to a working farm, and I’m going to bring the kids for a little getaway.  Both Marlowe and Major LOVE animals, and it’s going to be so fun to see a farm in action and show them that way of life! I’m really excited.

Major’s Birthday

Major is turning two on October 19th! I actually can’t believe it.  He’s grown up so much in the last couple of months, and is a full on little boy! I’m throwing him a Jungle Themed birthday party that we are all insanely excited for. In true Happily Eva After style, it will be over the top and perfect for my little man!

Travel

One of the biggest things I’ve realized I’m missing from our pre-kids life is travel! Kyle and I vowed to start traveling more now that the kids are a bit older.  We’re taking a trip to Columbus, OH where Kyle started his career as a soccer player– to show the kids where he played and to watch the Crew’s last game.

Then Kyle and I are getting away on our own! We will (finally) be going to Mallorca for a quick trip just the two of us! We were supposed to go in the Spring, but we had to defer it for work reasons and the time has come to prioritize romance! LOL. I can’t wait to share lots of pics from the trip once we’re back.

Holidays

Halloween and Thanksgiving are two of our favorite Holidays, and we are really looking forward to celebrating them this year with the kids.  It’s the first year that Major isn’t a baby, so he’ll really understand what’s going on– it’ll be so cute! I’m excited for him to try Mama’s famous sausage stuffing this year.

A Fun Collab….

Drumroll please! I know you just scrolled through all the rest to get to the big announcement and I don’t blame you. Ha!

I’m so excited to announce that Marlowe and I are partnering with Dudley Stephens to release a limited edition Happily Eva After x Dudley Stephens Mommy and Me fleece!!! Gah!!!!!!! Their fleece turtlenecks have been a staple of my Fall and Winter wardrobe for the last couple of years, and I’ve had an idea for a really perfect colorway.  Now Marlowe and I will get to wear our dream Dudley Stephens fleece color– and so will you!

The line is launching October 22nd and will be produced in women’s sizes as well as kids size 2T-5T.  I am so so so excited to show you what we have up our (fleece) sleeves! (By the way, the style of fleece is pictured in these photos, but the white color is currently available on their website and isn’t our collab version!)

Fall is actually my favorite time of year as summer is so incredibly hot in Houston. I, too, am excited to celebrate my youngest granddaughter’s 2nd Birthday October 21st! She, unlike Major is very tiny (preemie), but full of personality! Her brother is 3 years old and absolutely loves Halloween! Another thing I am excited about is taking 3 of my granddaughters, their Mom and my daughter-in-law to see Taylor Swift complete with a surprise limo. Of course I always get very excited for our post Christmas at my house where my entire family (19 of us) gather at my house, and yes we will all fit thanks to a big dorm room over our garage! So as you can see, family is what makes me excited! I will enjoy watching your family’s adventures!

Although I am a summer girl, I do love the fall activities. Now that my little girl is more mobile (turns 2 tomorrow ahhh!) I love doing outside activities with her. I think we picked every fruit we possible could this spring and summer and excited to cap off our fruit picking year with apples soon. Apple picking in New England is a necessity.
