As you all know, I live in Connecticut, and our state is “opening up” this week.  I have mixed feelings about this as a Mom of small children, including a newborn, but generally speaking, I’m looking forward to being able to move around more – albeit in a safe way! I’ve already ordered masks for myself and the kids from BURU and Hot Sundae, and I plan to take it really slow in terms of reintegrating into town life.  I still feel pretty nervous about being anywhere near large gatherings. I’m curious if anybody reading this knows the recommendations for how to transition back in to seeing friends or having small playdates. If you do, let me know! I plan to do lots of research on this myself, so I’ll write about this more as I have more info, too.

Regardless of the mixed bag of emotions surrounding getting “back out there”, so to speak, I am excited just to be spending a bit more time out and about. Even if it’s just to walk down the street in my neighborhood! Since we have ALL been ordering lots of loungewear the past few months as we sheltered in place, I have been thinking a lot about transitioning those loungewear pieces into streetwear! We don’t want to be walking around town looking like we’re in bed. LOL. But we also don’t want to waste the awesome pieces we have spent money on while in quarantine! Here’s how I plan to style my more lounge-y pieces to extend their wear:

First of all, Loungewear can totally look normal if you style it right. Ha! My key to styling them as an actual outfit is all about a great, structured jacket and killer accessories! These items can make the pieces look a lot more pulled together and can play off of the casual feeling of the loungewear. This works best with pieces like this awesome Lou & Grey set I’m wearing in these pics, or even with a sweatsuit. Tie-Dye ones have been super popular in the past couple of months!

Henley Tunic Shirt

Lou & Grey

My current fave loungewear top!

Joggers

My current fave joggers!

Adding a structured jacket on top of your loungewear is really flattering to any body type, as it creates a really nice shape and works against the relaxed silhouette of your loungewear. Add at least one bold piece of jewelry, or even a bright colored lip if you’re so inclined! Then a great shoe like a platform sandal, an espadrille, or a dressy sneaker can really up the ante. Try to stay away from a basic flip flop with your loungewear look, as this is a bit too casual and can be a dead giveaway that you’re wearing pajamas.  LOL. Lastly, add a great bag. Bags are fab style pieces to invest in right now because so many vendors are having blowout sales on more luxury items!

Here are some ideas for versatile accessories you can use to dress up your loungewear and transition it from the bedroom to the streets. I hope you’re all hanging in there, and please stay safe and protected!
