What’s Spring without a little home refresh, AMIRITE?! I already shared my mudroom and breezeway reveal which was a huge labor of love for me. It was part of the major addition I put on my home, and I always had such a clear vision for what I wanted in this space. Even though I shared the reveal over two years ago, I always knew that I wanted to eventually fully “finish” the space with art and decor that made it feel complete. It was also another great opportunity for Ian and I to pick things out together!
We wanted a really fresh feeling, with some light wood mixed in with the dark built-in and the gold accents. We also wanted to bring a little greenery into the space to mimic the gorgeous Lee Jofa wallpaper that I am STILL head over heels in love with. Every single time I walk into this area of the house, I swoon over this wallpaper. It’s been such a lesson in going with your gut with largely papered spaces and choosing something that truly sparks joy– even if it’s a little “out there”!
I also wanted to take a moment to sing my love for faux plants. They’re such an inexpensive and ZERO time commitment way to bring the beauty of the outdoors inside into your space. This area of the house doesn’t get a ton of natural light, and a real fiddle leaf plant wouldn’t survive. But I can still have the LEWK! Highly recommend checking out faux options if you’re overwhelmed in life and don’t have the time to care for real greenery. I’m putting all the design sources below so you can find things, but please let me know if you have further questions!
Beautiful! Are you able to share what kind of flooring this is and where you found it? We’re remodeling right now and I’m searching for light floors like this. Everywhere we have looked, anything that is very light has grey tones in it. Your floors look more natural toned than gray and it’s exactly what I’m trying to find.
Thanks!
Thanks! This is oak flooring, but we actually bleached it and whitewashed it, then sealed. I would first find a flooring expert, and then see samples of what they recommend, before deciding on a stain with an actual sample. It’s also super important to see the sample in your own space because the light and other colors from the room can effect tone
Oh wow. Thank you! They came out so beautifully.
Hello!
Can you please tell me what color paint you used for the built in?
Thank you!
