Our Media Room has been one in our new home that never felt exactly right. While I loved every other aspect of the design, I opted to use a custom sofa from our old home in there, and it just didn’t quite work as well as I wanted it to. At the time, finding a new sofa that fit the vibes (and the large room) just wasn’t in the budget, and the sofa was in good shape so I figured I’d use it as a placeholder. I adhere to a “fake it til you make it” mentality with home décor (sometimes other room elements are a priority, and that’s ok) but then it’s also ok to readjust once you do find the exact right thing!

I decided on a U-shaped Happily Eva After Sectional, so that we could fit as many people on it as possible. These sofas are SO insanely comfortable, and my family lounges on them and naps on them all the time. So, the more space, the better! Since the sofas are custom, I could make it to fit the space exactly. This alone made SUCH a difference in the space! But, in my humble opinion, it was the fabulous color of the performance velvet fabric that we made it in that really took this room to the next level. I was so drawn to this marigold tone (Beckett “Marigold”, to be exact) from the moment I saw the fabric sample, not to mention the fact that it is Benchmade Modern’s signature performance velvet– a fabric that stands up to families, pets, and all the wear and tear that real life brings. My family of five has been living, snuggling, and snacking on this sofa for over a month, and it has remained just as beautiful and vibrant. I cannot recommend this fabric enough!

I also added a new Benchmade Modern rug and coffee table to the room to tie it all together. The rug is an elegant and soft neutral to balance out the drama of the space, and this coffee table is a brand new Benchmade piece! I love how sturdy and modern it is, with the blackened oak really holding its own against the gallery wall of framed vintage posters. This space feels exactly how I always envisioned it, now, and brings a little drama and retro flair to one of our favorite rooms to gather in as a family.
