Kyle and I are headed to Spain!! Wooohoooo!! I’m a little excited if you couldn’t tell.  This will be the very first time we will be traveling outside of the country without kids, and while I’m sure we’ll miss the kiddos– the time has truly COME.  I traveled so much growing up, all over the world, but when I met Kyle at just 24 years old I was definitely in a money saving mode.  He had just switched careers, was working a lot, and was the same way! We got engaged quickly, and all our resources went in to our wedding and traveling back and forth to Charleston to prepare.  Our honeymoon to Hawaii was the first vacation we ever took together.

With two little kids and busy work schedules, we haven’t gotten a chance to travel together as much as we would like– and it’s something we both love so much.  Now that the kids are a bit older, we are finally Venturing out– and I couldn’t be more excited to head to Spain! Mallorca is a place I’ve never been, and now we have ties there.  A few years ago, Kyle and I became part owners if the Mallorca soccer team– which was a dream come true investment for Kyle.  This will be the first time he gets to visit the stadium in person, and we’re both excited to check it out.  I just can’t wait for the food, the wine, the sleeping in, and the time alone with my husband.  I think we really need it.

I was completely looking forward to packing for this trip, because I didn’t have to factor in taking care of kids at all! Bring on all the silk! LOL. But seriously, being able to just dress for yourself, and add some cute date night looks, is heaven.  My trick for these quick trips (we are only gone for a few days) is to pack within a restrained color palette so everything can be mixed and matched together! I was determined to fit everything in a carry-on, so I definitely packed on the lighter side.  I always take a second BIG bag for the airplane also, so I have a little extra packing room.

Curious if you and your husband fly together when you aren’t with your children? I know some parents have that rule.

I am so excited for your trip to Mallorca. As I am from Germany, this is a place we are often in our vacation…. we love this place! You need to visit Soller and Arta, such beautiful small towns. And you will love the old town of Palma. Lots of small boutiques and restaurants ? You also must go to Alaro, if you like cowboy boots… there is the home of “Tony Mora”. I needed to buy 2 pairs of boots as I couldn’t decided which one to take… And please try the good mallorcean wine and tapas (olives, Ajoli and Chorizo… ) Would love to hear what you have done while beeing in Mallorca. Have a great time, I am sure you will!!! Love, Yvi

My mom used to have a house in Mallorca and it is a wonderful island. If you have time visit the town of Valdemossa, where the house was. Beautiful quaint town to walk around (George Sand wrote a book from a trip here as well). As someone mentioned Deia is near here and beautiful. But if you can explore the Calas (beaches) all around the island.
