Eva Amurri shares her Mummy Hotdog Recipe

Ok, guys: these are SO fun and probably way too easy to be this impressive. What am I talking about? Ultra spooky, fabulously seasonal, and crowd-pleasingly delicious Mummy Hotdogs, of course! These take two ingredients (I like to use organic hot dogs to make myself feel better, but not necessary) and about 30 minutes to create a snack or meal your kids won’t stop talking about it. I served these for dinner recently, and Mateo shrieked “MUMMIES!!!!” and then started hysterically laughing. For a child who normally takes multiple rounds of coaxing, several empty threats, and a juice box to choke anything down at meal times…I consider this a huge win. He ate two without complaint. These are also such a great idea if you’re having a Halloween party and need a mess-less meal for the kiddos that’s packed with protein.

I’m putting the simple recipe for these Mummy Hotdogs below, and let me know if you end up making them!

Mummy Hotdogs

Step 1:

Preheat Oven and Gather Ingredients

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and gather your hot dog packages and crescent dough sheet.

Step 2:

Prep your hotdogs

Using a cutting board, cut your hotdogs in the middle about halfway up to create the two legs. Next, cut two small slits on the side above the legs for the arms and place on a baking sheet.

Step 3:

Prep the dough sheet

Using a cutting board and a pizza cutter, lay the dough sheet flat on the cutting board and use the pizza cutter to make thin strips.

Step 4:

Wrap the hotdogs

Take the strips of crescent dough and wrap the hot dog until it is to your liking.

Step 5:

Final Touches and Bake

Once you have wrapped all the hotdogs and the dough is laid to your liking, bake them for 30 minutes. Be sure to check on them sporadically as each oven is different.

Step 6:

Let Cool and Enjoy!

Once they have turned golden brown, remove them from the oven and let them cool for about 10 minutes. Serve them with ketchup, mustard, or a sauce of choice!
