This week’s Eight By Eva features the lovely (fellow working-actress Mama!) Marla Sokoloff! You know her from the TV show “The Practice” (so good!) as well as “The Fosters” and “Grey’s Anatomy”, among many others.  She is doing what I’m currently trying to do, which is balance a marriage, life as an actress, and Motherhood.  I first became obsessed with her via her People.com guest Momblog posts! Marla recently welcomed a second daughter, Olive (4 months), who joins spunky big sis Elliotte (3.5). How cute are those names, by the way? You can find all of Marla’s adventures on Twitter and Instagram.  Below, she answers my eight favorite questions:

1.     What is the best parenting advice you have received? To attempt a schedule very early on and stick to it. Both of my girls have had the same bedtime since birth and they know what to expect in their routine each night. I love my kids to bits but I also love a little time with my husband at night when they are sleeping- equally as important!

2.     What is your greatest challenge as a parent? PATIENCE. Deep breaths. All of those things you forget in those trying parenting moments. Work in progress over here.

3.     What’s the latest with your kid(s)? Any new dynamics? Funny quirks? Challenges? So many things between the two of them! I would say my favorite dynamic at this moment is the love between the two sisters. Elliotte (my 3 ½ year old) truly believes that her sister Olive is her baby. She is so worried about her when she cries or spits up and says things like “how’s my little muffin doing this morning?” as she pinches her cheeks. Pretty much kills me.

4.     What is your dream day as a family? I love an old-fashioned pool day. Good friends, good food, good rose. And since this is my dream day, I look like Eva Amurri Martino in a bikini.

5.     Kid item you can’t live without? For my 3 year old: washi tape. She’s obsessed. While I’m feeding or putting the baby to bed, she can busy herself by making the coolest tape art! Also great for keeping her occupied at restaurants. For the 4 month old, I would have to say The Magic Merlin Sleep Suit. She looks like a martian in it but she’s sleeping 8 hour stretches due to it’s “magic” so I’m sold.

6.     Favorite local kids activity? Downtown LA has a super fun splash pad that’s perfect for summer. We are also huge Disneyland fans so try to go pretty often sans babe.

7.     How do you unwind? I love a good manicure/pedicure. Extra points if it comes with a glass of champagne. Honestly, it doesn’t take much these days!  A quiet room with Wi-Fi is the epitome of living the dream.

8.     What are your favorite beauty products? For my tired eyes, I love Rodan & Fields eye cream. I was SO not a believer but a friend gave me a jar when Olive was born and I’m hooked. Hourglass makes the PERFECT tinted moisturizer that fakes the glowy well rested look that I’m constantly chasing, and Too Faced Mascara is out of control awesome. But while we are on the subject of lashes- what’s the deal with yours? Yes, I’m turning this interview around but YOUR READERS WANT TO KNOW.

xoxo
