This has been a super interesting Fall for our family for a few reasons. It’s Ian and my first season of life as a married couple, we’ve officially completed an entire year in our forever home, and the kids all are out of the baby phase and into a new, more grown up era.

All of these factors have come together to usher us into a really new and different chapter in our parenting journey and in our life as a family– and it’s been overall extremely positive. I did have a little mini era in September where I was EXTREMELY sad and anxious about the kids not being little anymore.

I don’t really know what ushered it in– maybe Mateo starting his last year ever of preschool– but for about 2 weeks anything and everything would make me burst into tears. I would cry every night putting the kids to bed because everything felt like it was going by too quickly, and I had dreams almost every night with flashbacks of the kids when they were little.

It was a hard time for me, but I kept reminding myself that part of this mourning process was preparing myself for a new chapter as a family that had so many exciting and different things about it to look forward to.…

Started off with an inspiring visit to @mjthemusical , made over my husbands closet, witnessed a skeleton in my own home, omakase with my love, stole away for a date night at the new gorge Toki Row at @barclayscenter to see @spaceykacey, wrapped my first gifts of the season, and then sweetest family day with @matybuss and co. 💯

I grew up with my parents hosting tons of friends and family for pretty much every holiday, and I absolutely loved the energy and warmth it brought our household. It’s always been a goal of mine to create the same type of excitement for my own kids.

I truly do ✨love✨ hosting, and I don’t get as stressed by it as some people do. I think it’s because I’ve internalized so many tips over the years. From watching my own family host large gatherings growing up, to hosting my own starting at a super young age (I was always the one having dinner parties etc, even in college!), I really have the whole “gathering” thing down to a science.

I thought it would be fun to share some of my best Thanksgiving hosting tips today! Most of these tips can be transferred to hosting any large gathering, but they’re ones that I always keep in mind for Thanksgiving at my own home. I hope they’re helpful and make your time with family and friends even brighter...and more relaxing 😜
