Ian decided about a year ago that he wanted to get more serious about his personal style. As a product designer (and even in his past life as a Chef), his aesthetics have always been top-tier…but laziness had won. Working from home, he had gotten into a rut of grabbing whatever was easy and not planning outfits or pushing his comfort zone when it comes to clothing.

If you have spent even five minutes with my blog, you know that I not only love fashion, but I love to push the envelope. I think so much of the mark we make in business, or in a social setting, can be improved upon with the right wardrobe. I had been wanting him to push his limits a little bit for YEARS, but he was so stuck in what he knew. I have always told him that the silhouettes he automatically returned to out of habit, or societal pressures, were actually not necessarily the most flattering on his actual body type. He would see celebrities or Men’s style bloggers dressed in things he loved, but would assume because he’s a “big guy” that he couldn’t play with fashion in the same way.

I told him to trust me. We had a BIG breakthrough in the city one day when we went shopping for about 4 hours. I had him try on all kinds of silhouettes that he normally would think “didn’t work” on him. The result? He realized he actually looks FANTASTIC in clothes, and was able to balance his proportions more effectively. We swapped out a ton in his closet this summer, and I love seeing him come alive in his new wardrobe!

I’ve got a pretty healthy male following on Instagram, and the past few months I’ve noticed them taking note, and seeing things they like. I’ve even gotten quite a few requests to share more Men’s Styling pieces! Today, just in time for a Fall refresh, I’m sharing a bunch of the pieces that took Ian’s wardrobe from drab to FAB. I hope they give you some good ideas!
