Last week, I read a book to Mateo’s preschool class that was written ✨about my own preschool class!✨ There are even pictures of me throughout…looking wildly like Mateo. The whole experience was so special and full circle, especially as I’ve been processing a lot of feelings about both turning 40 this year AND having my youngest child graduating preschool and going to kindergarten. I stumbled upon the book again while cleaning out some storage the other day. I hadn’t seen it in DECADES! None of my kids had ever seen it. 🥹❤️‍🩹

Here’s the crazy thing. I remember every single detail from that classroom. I remember every single name from that class, and all the dynamics…and even some of the playdates! The photos brought back all the the smells and memories and feelings.

I guess it shocked me that after all this time, memories from when I was four are some of the strongest I have. Ultimately it made me feel good that my own kids might just have as strong memories as my own.

I think I psych myself out by telling myself sometimes that a lot of this will just pass them by, and that the immense amount of effort I put in for them may not be making an impact. 😬🫠 But this little discovery was proof that some of the most important things do stick with us after all of the years.

If anyone’s having a hard time lately with their kids growing up, I hope that’s a comforting reminder for you too. 🤗❤️‍🩹 Do you ever find childhood relics that absolutely knock your socks off?!
