If you have ever read my blog for even ten minutes, you know that I’m officially holiday-obsessed.  All of my best childhood memories involve the holidays, and it’s the time of year that is the MOST special for me now as a Mom of two! It’s so cliché, but looking at the world through the eyes of my kids makes me feel like a kid again myself– and the traditions and occasions that come with the holidays take on new meaning.  But, of course, since I’m a mom the holidays can also be the most stressful time of the year!  Everyone I know is super busy during the holidays, and parents even more so.  Balancing it all while also trying to preserve that magic for our kiddos can be draining and emotions can be on edge!

Over the years, I’ve made a lot of mistakes when it comes to managing my kids and our family life around the holidays.  I’ve overextended myself and our social calendar, and tried too hard to create “magic” that just ended up in meltdowns. What I’ve finally realized is that the key to holiday happiness is keeping my kids fed and watered.  That’s right, NO HANGRY KIDS FOR THE HOLIDAYS! Whenever I keep those little tummies full with food they like, my kids are astronomically happier, and that makes for better times for the whole family.  My go-to trick around this time of year is my forever sidekick: Red Baron Pizza! 

I’ve talked about this before, but Red Baron Pizza is the easiest and most convenient meal for busy families…and kids LOVE it! I keep a few of their flavors stacked in my freezer at all times, and whenever we are rushing to a holiday event– or even hosting a holiday activity at our home– I make sure that there is Red Baron pizza on hand to feed all the hungry little elves in the workshop.

Now that December is almost here, we did our annual Santa Letter-writing session! I’m always shocked by at least one request by my kiddos when we finally put them down on paper. Marlowe wants an easel and paints from Santa this year– who knew?! Major stayed as consistent as the tides and requested a truck…obviously. I of course had Red Baron pizza on hand to keep the mood happy and satisfied, and this time we chose pepperoni, Kyle’s fave. 

The kids both loved putting their letters in the special Santa Mail postbox, and Marlowe even drew some pictures for Santa on hers.  At least I think that’s what they were. They also might have been words but to be honest I have no idea. LOL. Then we did a little North Pole Dance (I’m pretty sure Marlowe coined that phrase in the moment) and sprinkled all our happy magic on them so they made it to Santa’s Workshop! It was such a fun family activity, made even better by the fact that the kids stayed happy the entire time.  I’m telling ya, tummy full = happy kiddos!
