I’m always looking for fun little crafts to do with my kids around different holidays, and double the points if they are also somehow a snack. I’m all about hitting two birds with one stone, especially since we are spending so much time indoors these days with not much to look forward to. Why not make snack time extra special? This year, I decided to whip up these ultra-cute Strawberry Spider Snacks to get us in the Halloween spirit!
First, assemble your spiders! Take some pretzel sticks and snap them in half. Place a half into each strawberry as spider legs. This is an easy task to assign the kids! Mine loved helping me stick the legs on!
Meanwhile, melt your chocolate in a double boiler over medium heat. Stir often until the chocolate is smooth and creamy.
Transfer your strawberry spiders to a cooling rack on top of a baking sheet, making sure to leave 1-2 inches of space between each.
Drizzle chocolate over the strawberry “body” of the spider, and allow it to drip down over the edges. This is why the cooling rack is essential—so that the excess chocolate can drip down onto the baking sheet, rather than collecting around the strawberry.
Apply your candy eyeballs to your spiders, and allow to cool for 10-15 minutes until hardened.
Once the chocolate is hard, arrange on a spooky dessert tray of your choice, and serve. If not serving immediately, place in the fridge until it’s time to serve.
Enjoy!
