Now that we’re settled in to our new home, the furniture is installed, and the boxes have been unpacked…we are beginning to live in our new normal. Since the dust has settled, I can say it: I LOVE my new house! Kyle, Marlowe and I are all so happy here– Marlowe loves exploring every nook and cranny and finding little hiding spots. It’s so cool to see her in the home that she’ll grow up in! But our new house is a whole lot more house than we’re used to. The rooms all kind of flow in to each other, especially in the downstairs where we spend most of our time.

It only took me a couple of weeks to realize that my two year old definitely does NOT need to have free reign of the entire downstairs. I’d be in the middle of cooking something, and realize that Marlowe had disappeared around the corner. And any Mama knows that when your chattering child is suddenly out of sight and silent– well, that is bone chilling. For real. I would have to quickly turn the burners off and chase after her to make sure she wasn’t doing something she shouldn’t be doing, i.e, burning the house down or hitchhiking to Woodstock. I had to lock it down, and quick! But I was super opposed to putting Safety Gates up everywhere– they’re normally so ugly, annoying to install, and cumbersome to manage. Neither Kyle nor I wanted to make walking in our house feel like a level 10 ropes course, especially with a newborn on the way.

Luckily, Munchkin came to the rescue with the Vibe Gate! I had always been a huge fan of Munchkin products since Lowie was a newborn. In fact, their mesh Fresh Food Feeder pouch was an absolute teething lifesaver for us. Their designs are known for being really practical for baby, Mom-friendly in their stylishness, and super duper easy to use. But I didn’t even know that Munchkin is currently redefining the Safety Gate market! Their Vibe Gate is a total game changer.

The Vibe Gate turns an every day safety item in to a chic piece of furniture for your home– you actually want to look at it! It’s formulated with no visible weld marks and sleek mesh in an array of color choices so it can coexist harmoniously with any style of décor. My favorite part about the Vibe Gate is that it arrives in one piece (really and truly) with a turnkey install system that is literally the easiest thing ever to install. I had left the honors for Kyle, since when I hear “easy installation” I normally don’t believe it. We took the gate out of the box, put it in the doorway, turned the key a couple of times…and that was it.   Kyle looked back at me and actually said “That is literally the easiest thing I’ve ever done.” I should have recorded it and sent it in to Munchkin as a review– ha! I tested it out, and it’s also really easy to open and close with one hand, which is a total “Must” for me, especially with a little newborn on the way. I feel like the first five months with a new baby you have to do just about everything one-handed. I can also still see my beautiful Formal Living room through the mesh of the gate! Everybody wins.

When Marlowe got home from school that day, she immediately noticed the new gate. She tried to open it herself, and couldn’t, and then just kind of stood there looking at it. I win few battles with my sassy toddler, but this one I won for sure. That night I made dinner without worrying that my kid was getting halfway to Cuba while I chopped vegetables, and it lowered my stress level a ton. If you’re looking for a stylish and safe way to create boundaries in your home, I highly recommend Munchkin’s Vibe Gate. Now if Munchkin could just invent a sleek and smart robot who can bottle feed and diaper a newborn, that would be just peachy. Keep me posted, guys…
