Last week I was lucky enough to participate in something totally fun, very of-the-moment, and bursting with Style– the Reed Krakoff for Kohl’s launch day! If you didn’t know, Reed Krakoff is a designer who used to head up Coach (swoon) and is now designing a super-chic and super affordable (double swoon) collection that you can buy at Kohl’s! The collection includes fab ready-to-wear items, but is primarily focused on an exquisite array of handbags that is sure to have you rushing to Kohl’s to snatch one up before they’re sold out. For the launch of the Reed Krakoff Collection, Kohl’s organized a Bloggers’ Day of adventure– and invited me to come along for the ride.
A small group of Bloggers all met in the morning at Grand Central, where Kohl’s had set up a Reed Krakoff Collection pop up shop. They were giving away tons of handbags and accessories to lucky passerby, and had a fun photobooth set up as well. I got to choose a bag, and picked out this ultra elegant (and perfectly neutral) one that I just adore– I’ve worn it every day since! I also was all decked out in a top and skirt from the Reed Krakoff Collection– I was drawn to the vibrant pink color and the energetic floral pattern of the skirt. Both items were extremely comfortable and forgiving for my pregnant belly– and they’re not even Maternity!
Once at Grand Central, each of us Bloggers was paired with an amazing Photographer– and the adventure started from there. I was so lucky to be paired with Pierre, a crazy-talented Street Style Photographer who shoots his subjects all over the world. Our only instruction was to see where the handbag could take me– and to enjoy the city and all it has to offer! Good thing for us, the weather that day was absolutely gorgeous– and it really energized and inspired us to have a productive day. The day actually felt a lot like The Amazing Race or something– everyone out and around the same city at the same time for the same purpose– Ha!
We went first to Union Square, where I have so many great memories from growing up. When I was really little I played in the playground, and then as I grew older we would hang out and lounge around in the grass and on the steps facing 14th street. I have always especially loved to visit the Farmer’s Market there, and so we set out to see what beautiful things we could find to bring along on our journey. There were just so many stunning flowers– the perks of Spring, I suppose. After exploring a bit, I bought a bunch of yellow daffodils and stuck them in my purse to take along on our adventure.
Next up was Brooklyn! I actually went to High School in Brooklyn, and many of my coming-of-age, formative years were spent there. We decided to check it out– revisiting some of my old stomping grounds as well as exploring all of the new things that have popped up since I was last there. I just love the DUMBO area of Brooklyn, in the shadow of the Manhattan Bridge, with gorgeous views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the New York City skyline. The area has gotten so built up in recent years, with gorgeous parks and lots of cute stores and cafés to check out. I was so nostalgic the entire afternoon– sitting in places I had spent so much time in as a teen, where I had dreamed of what my life would be like when I was a “real grown up”. It was so surreal to be sitting there with my son in my belly, and my daughter and Husband at home patiently waiting my return! It really is amazing where life takes us.
The day ended with a delicious dinner with Reed Krakoff and the entire Kohl’s team– it was so nice to catch up with the other Bloggers and hear where their adventures had taken them. I had such an exciting and invigorating day– it was so unusual and and thrilling to be challenged to an adventure! I can’t wait to hear about all the unexpected adventures the Reed Krakoff Collection bags take you on!

I’ve never shopped at Kohl’s. I Googled and found a store right by me.
Hello Eva,
That is neat, Eva that you were able to revisit special places where you have many fond childhood, as well as young adult memories.
Last fall I was in New York City briefly overnight, up near Amsterdam and 103rd. I didn’t have much time to explore New York as I had desired (museums! :-), libraries!, music!), but there will be other times.
I appreciate many of Kohls clothing products also, they make VERY quality slacks, some with helpful deep pockets for your larger phones, memo pads, as well as for something you are mailing, kudos to the purchasers at Kohls, quality products.
Sometimes flowers are applied as symbols. Here is what I found about daffodils for the wise co leaders at Eva’s blog to consider about your yellow flowers that enhance your being a mother once again Eva:
“Symbolizing rebirth and new beginnings, the daffodil is virtually synonymous with spring. Though their botanic name is narcissus, daffodils are sometimes called jonquils, and in England, because of their long association with Lent, they’re known as the “Lent Lily.” Lore connecting the daffodil to not only a sign of winter’s end but a lucky emblem of future prosperity is found throughout the world. In Wales, it’s said if you spot the first daffodil of the season, your next 12 months will be filled with wealth, and Chinese legend has it that if a daffodil bulb is forced to bloom during the New Year, it will bring good luck to your home.”
“The March birth flower and the 10th wedding anniversary flower, a gift of daffodils is said to ensure happiness. But always remember to present daffodils in a bunch – the same legends that associate this cheerful flower with good fortune warn us that when given as a single bloom, a daffodil can foretell misfortune.”

Also, since discovering Eva’ superior lifestyle blog last fall, I observe the pattern more and more a renaissance woman who is curious who dabbles in the various arts with sciences.
I wish more women had quality parents who made that a priority Eva, my parents were like that too, quite rare, so a humble kudos to your family team.
Anyway, the band lead by renaissance man from England Roland Orzabal, Tears For Fears ( songs Mad World, Working Hour, Sowing the Seeds of Love, Elemental, etc), is on tour for the first time in eight years or so.
My show I am attending is in June here out west, maybe there is a show in some of the readers neck of the woods.
My favorite song from their most recent 2004 album is the Size of Sorrow (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMcXlan6f0s), from the album Everybody Loves A Happy Ending.
Sometimes each of us faces challenges that seem insurmountable, this is when you find out who your true friends are. Some are there for you, because they are strong enough, some desire to be but are not strong enough, some are testing you to see if you seek their company only one dimensionally.
Generally, observationally, this is life.
I do not agree completely with any spiritual and or religious ideology and or philosophy, however with the applied tools of logic, in Neale Walschs books, there is some meaningful wisdom.
Here are two that are somewhat helpful on my journey of life, a) “you are in relationship with everything. Many times people get into personal relationships for the wrong reasons, to obtain something from the relationship. However what can each person give in the relationship? Ultimately relationships are need exchanges, where each person is trading traits they sacrifice time to obtain refine master as well as cultivate.”
How would the goal being the majority of time to achieve humble balance in each of your interactions, help make a more peaceful healthy world?
How does applying love as a verb change your life as well as the others around you for the better?
b) “live your life with preferences, not expectations, appreciate your desires, passions, goals, but do not forget the process of life, is the journey of learning which prepares you for the coming future in your life.”
Eva, thanks for your wise, creative superior blog, its neat to see that there are still curious, creative, renaissance women in the United States.
It would be neat that some Happily Eva After co leaders, could make it to some Tears For Fears concerts, Roland is one of the top musician songwriters of the past 30 years, a quality show of sonic vibrations is a guarantee with TFF concerts. 🙂
