We really get in to the Halloween season in our house, and ever since Kyle and I started our family, we’ve loved having Halloween parties and inviting all our friends! I grew up having Halloween parties before Trick-Or-Treating every year, and it’s been really cool to continue the tradition. This year I wanted to throw a fun party for the kids with a bit of a special theme. We’ve had classic parties in the past– and while they’re SO fun I wanted to do something a bit different this time.
Marlowe and Major have been watching the movie “Annie” a lot recently– both the old version and the newer one. I really enjoy watching the original with them, and it reminds me so much of my childhood since I LOVED the soundtrack when I was Marlowe’s age. We talked about dressing up as the characters of Annie, and it totally inspired me to have a Hollywood themed Halloween party! The idea of my “Hollyweird” party was born. I thought it would be so fun to have cinematic and movie-themed details– and encourage guests to dress up as characters from movies as their costumes!
For our costumes, I dressed up as Miss Hannigan, Marlowe was Annie (obvi. Lol), and Major was Sandy the dog! The kids were really excited to have a group costume together. I was really happy with how all the movie decor turned out too! Grandin Road has the best Halloween decorations, and I turned to their collection for this year’s party as well. I find great Grandin Road pieces to add to my Halloween decor collection every year, and I found so many amazing ones for this party!
In our entryway, I set up a skeleton with a lit up, bat-filled tree. He was holding a film projector decoration that actually projects a little clip of a skeleton dancing! Major was so obsessed with it– it even plays a little jingle while the skeleton dances. It definitely provides an entrance for guests! I also loved dressing up my mantle! I found the most gorgeous lace bat mantle cover that really gave my kitchen a beautiful and festive vibe. I am a firm believer that there’s a Halloween decorating style for every home, no matter what your decor style is! You just need to invest in some beautiful pieces that add to your collection, even if it’s one or two things every year. I always go for items that are more simple, black and white, or more modern to go with the rest of my decor– and to go with the other pieces in my collection!
A couple of new pieces I added this year, were from the super spooky and fab witches broom collection from Grandin Road. A cauldron sitting on a bed of broomsticks for a big batch cocktail, and this awesome trio of witches hats hanging from a broom that can be used for dips, sauces, or candy! I made quesadillas for the party, with two different salsas and guacamole on the side. I also continued the movie theme with little servings of popcorn with spiders crawling on them. It was so fun to figure out spooky ways to display the drinks and food! For the witches brew, you can make a non-alcoholic punch with a mixture of orange soda, peach juice, and pear juice. If you’d like to make it alcoholic, you can add a couple cups of spiced rum to the mixture!
It makes me really happy to make my kids feel special on Halloween, and now that Major is older and can participate it has been so sweet to create some lasting memories. Now excuse me while I teach them to say “we love you Miss Hannigan!!!!”

Love it all! I’m especially fond of a themed party and your decorations are fantastic! Now I need to order more decor for myself lol.
Everything about your party is simply fabulous fabulous fabulous!!
Love this-Halloween is my favorite! And as I’ve read this I had just placed an order with them for a front porch bench (trying to make our house look better to sell!) Love the witch hat dip display!
All of it….that table runner! The lace mantle cover! The projector and film…but mostly that broom and triple hat set! So much fun! Great job!
