Welcome back to the HEA Book Club! I can’t believe we are on our third book already! I have honestly read more in the past three months than I had in the past year—so the purpose of this book club is definitely paying off—at least on my end! LOL. My inspiration for this month’s book actually came from deciding to listen to a book.  I don’t do that often, because I just adore the act of holding a book, curling up with a cup of tea or a glass of wine, and being transported into a different headspace.  For some reason, I find actually reading a book way less distracting than listening to one! Am I the only person who feels this way?

Anyway, I had heard amazing things about Little Fires Everywhere, by Celeste Ng.  I was going to be traveling a ton, and decided to try listening to the book instead of reading it.  As soon as I listened to the first chapter, I absolutely fell in love, and I knew that I would be doing this incredible book a disservice by not diving in with a real book as I usually love to do.  I stopped listening, and picked up a copy to read—and I just know you guys will love this as much as I do! I’m so in love with the author’s beautiful way with words, and how she creates such a rich world immediately.  I can’t wait to discuss it with you!

Also, make sure you’re signed up for my newsletter this week! I’m releasing this month’s HEA Book Club bookmark to subscribers today and it is GORGE.

Yes! “Everything I Never Told You” was so emotional and heartbreaking. I really like Celeste Ng’s writing.

I’m the same way with reading vs listening. I feel like I don’t retain it as well when I’m listening to an audio book. I love last months pick but couldn’t join the discussion since Instagram wasn’t working for me last night but I can’t wait to read and discuss this one! I’ve loved your choices so far! Also check out A man called Ove by Fredrik Backman. I think you’ll love it!

Book club is so great! It’s forcing me (in a good way) to prioritize reading time for me and I love reading a new book each month. My previous m.o. was taking months to read one simple book!

It’s also nice to be able to chat about the book and share our experience with it! A night of stimulating conversation is always fun.

Looking forward to chatting in September!

    • I’m SO happy to hear this kind of feedback, because I feel the exact same way! I’m so thankful to be reading again and it makes it so much easier to do when I’m held accountable by this book club!
