Hope everybody had a fun, festive, and food-filled holiday!  This year, my broken foot put a little damper on our family plans.  Kyle and I had been looking forward to taking Marlowe to the beach and going in to the ocean for the first time as a family.  Sadly, my broken metatarsal said hell naw!  Red, White, and Boot.  But we salvaged the day and had a ton of fun anyway.

We went to two kid-centric BBQs, where the theme of the day was relaxation.  It reminded me  how nice it is just to spend time as a family, and to catch up and share stories with other parents of small children.

Marlowe absolutely adores “big kids”, and she got to follow a few around to her heart’s content.  She even tried potato salad for the first time, and got to nibble on a little bit of Susie Cakes “Celebration Cake”.  Marlowe played at a water table and pushed a big pink car around, and Kyle and I got to have a couple hamburgers and nurse some beers and Rosé.  Kyle is usually gone for holidays (Sports commentators get the raw end of the holiday deal), so it was especially sweet to enjoy the day with him and to watch Marlowe spend some quality time with her Dada.

Below is a gallery of our family photo album from the 4th! I love documenting holidays in black and white because I think it gives the pictures a timeless quality while also making everyone look like a million bucks.  (Or as close to a million bucks as you can look when you live with a teething baby.)  I can’t wait to look back on these photos next year  and laugh at the monstrosity that I carried around on my leg all day.  Looking forward to taking off this boot and burning it in a few weeks!

xoxo
