Last Halloween, I took about 2,345 hours (Okay, two hours– of time I didn’t have!) to carve a few mediocre pumpkins for our front stoop.  They were fiiiine, not that special, and I even sliced my finger making them.  Then, I put them outside and the critters proceeded to eat them, camp out in the foliage around my house and not leave for three months.  Spectacular!  Needless to say, this year I vowed to find a non-perishable way to decorate for the season!

I was inspired by the super chic off-white craft pumpkins at my local craft store.  They’re slightly more expensive than real pumpkins but last FOREVER! Like Vampires and Twinkies! I thought the color was super chic, and since we have a black front door, I instantly decided that a black and white theme with pops of color was in order.  I hunted around the craft store, and armed with my love for Mixy-Prints, came up with a fun and festive way to decorate these Halloween pumpkins.  I love how they turned out, and I can’t wait to use them year after year!  Added bonus:  peel off the tape and change it up for an instant makeover next Halloween!

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Craft Pumpkins
  • Washi Tape assortment
  • Rhinestone Letters
  • Sticky grommets

DIRECTIONS:  Creativity is key here.  You can mix up the patterns like I did, or keep it identical for a more uniform look.  I recommend throwing in a pumpkin or two with lettering to really drive home the spookiness of the season!  Start at the base of the pumpkin and work your way up with the washi tape, smoothing as you go.  Make sure the tape is exactly how you’d like it before you press down firmly.  For lettering, use a ruler to line up the letters before you place them.  Draw a little invisible prick with a pencil so you know where the top of the letters should be to keep the word straight!

Stunning! I love decorating my pumpkins, no mess and they last longer than when you cut them up. I’ve decorated real pumpkins just like you did and they turned out great.
